It’s carving me up that I’m not cut out, a paranoid diamond shining discrete. So lift me senseless, up into blue: a kaleidoscope rising up in 3D, yeah. Walk through the circles and wheels of hell, we’ll come out married, wishing you well. We’ll come bearing whiskey and wine, spinning like Saturn, dancing like time, yeah. That’s how, I’ll come round, again. Charm of the devil keeps me around, the love of a woman, warmth of the sound. The stars, they are singing a seraphim song, and I’ll be a sentinel singing along, yeah.
2.
Rippling space. A ball of white light. A spaceship over the hospital. Followed by a shaman, marked as the one, spiralling head, speaking in tongues. Haven’t you heard? Seeing them all draining your mind - drinking you up - rewinding time. Walk on the ceiling with the lizard king. Swallow the universe, watching me win. Haven’t you heard?
3.
Under the cold water, in January, a golden crown - the being that created me. I’m trapped here by the symmetry. Another train burning - another release. Turn it off - a happiness filling the sea. A healthy dose to level me, to balance me. Would you smother me in kisses in the sunlight?

Lost on Me 04:09
Sound as a colour, thought as a tone, light as another, heavy alone. When all the world is there to see, all these words are lost, lost on me. Tell me of planets floating in space, but what is your altitude? Where are you going today? And all, all that you say that couldn’t be - a life of the mind - live as a ghost, finally free. Sound as a colour, thought as a tone. Light as another, heavy alone. And all the world is there to see - All these words are lost, lost on me. I lost body, lost my speech, so all these words are lost, lost on me.

Take me to my bed, reckon with my head, sickened by the singing in my soul. In the shadow of the stars, I’ll drop the foolish art, so take me to the bottom of your heart. Who can I become, beckoned by the sun? All around a failure for the fun. Looking out above, for carcasses and charms, just take me to the bottom of your heart. Here the armies sing at all the pretty things, demons rise and devils fly in love. So send me up to Mars, cos God has shown his cards, and take me to the bottom of your heart. Battles pass away, crying smiles stay, we’re sitting on a silver lining cloud. So hit me where I’m scarred, or love me from afar, or take me to the bottom of your heart.

Fool's Head 02:25
Old eyes, wishing something wise on me. I see all the lines but I can’t read the old truth - longer in the tooth than me, Showing me someone that I long to be. But I couldn’t see, how to be free, by telling the lock from the key. And the slow slide of marble in the skies of lead gives the answers I could never find in my fool's head. Daylight, came and brought the fight to me. A chemical kicking me back in the ring. With something to sing, rescue the day with a win. And the slow slide of marble in the skies of lead gives the answers I could never find in my fool's head.

Safety 05:34
When we are alone we’ll settle down and build a home - a place. We'll make it out of bricks and stone, and it, it will be our safety. We’ll have fun watching our curses in the rising sun. A pace of life where all the time is one, and I, I will be myself. Maybe we’ll forget and chop and change the time we met. At night our heads will travel further out and meet some other entity. Then you see the echo of a time we didn't dream could be. A hope, a past laid out in front of me - a tale only time will tell. Watch the sea, kiss me while I can't resist and carry me. I see a spirit soaring over me - a hand that's always beautiful. Over everything a canon and a bell will ring, and count the times you couldn't hear me sing that all, all was still to come.

Is moving always waiting? And if the sky falls in, there’s nothing to it. Nothing to it.

about

On this self-titled 5th album, David searches deeply into his past, and his subconscious, attempting to express dreams, hallucinations, and his mental health struggles. The arc of the album takes the listener from states of euphoria, through darker moments, and eventually finds a sense of peace.

“Most of the recording took place in 2022, in that strange post-pandemic
daze where we were all kind of putting our lives back together, and I think
that comes through on the album in a way - there’s a sense of waking up and rubbing your eyes until you can see straight again, and that wide-eyed, hopeful anxiety of coming back into the world. I was very glad to be able to channel that into something.”

"The artwork is a photo I took through an old kaleidoscope that I used to play with as a child. I reversed the colours, to make it like a negative"
